One of the best things about living in Europe besides the food; is sight-seeing!  On short weekends we take trips to the little towns near to where we live and just find the old historic buildings or castles that are there.  I thought old civil war towns in the US were old, the town where we live now is over 800 years old!  You can literally find history all around you here.  Last weekend we decided to visit Amberg.
This cathedral was built in the 15th century and renovated in 1603.
The Gothic town hall built in 1358.
I love this fountain.
This is a monastery that was built during the time of the bubonic plague and the Thirty Years war 1633-1634 era.  When we first moved to Bavaria a Taxi driver told us to go here, have some lunch ( apparently theres a café at the top of the hill) and get some “Monk beer”.. according to her, “Monk Beer” never goes bad.  We have yet to make it to the Monastery,  maybe next weekend.
But we did find an Irish pub!  I may just have to go back to my Irish roots.
This is a beer garten ( beer garden) that is located across the street from a catholic church.  I saw it as a photograph opportunity as the lighting was awesome, too bad my focus wasn’t.
And that is pretty much Amberg.  The wall on the left side where the 2 people are walking, was built during the medieval times, just a random FYI for ya.

Next weekend we are off to either the much talked about and often dreamt about ‘Oktoberfest’ in Munich or Regensburg.. or both!  Happy trails y’all!
